Morphological Features of the Testis among Autoimmune Mouse Model and Healthy Strains

Abstract Autoimmune diseases play a critical role in the progression of infertility both sexes and their severity has been reported to increase with age. However, few reports have discussed effect on morphological features testis. Therefore, we compared alterations testes autoimmune model mice (MRL/MpJ-Fas lpr ) control strain (MRL/MpJ) those background (C57BL/6N) at 3 6 months. Furthermore, analyzed changes spermatocytes, Sertoli cells, immune Zonula occludens-1 junctional protein by immunohistochemical staining. The MRL/MpJ-Fas showed significant serum Anti-double stranded DNA antibody level, relative spleen weight, seminiferous luminal area when other studied two strains. In contrast, decrease testis numbers Sertoli, meiotic spermatocyte was observed MRL/MpJ C57BL/6N especially Similarly, positive cells same strains no cell infiltration could be among three Our findings suggest that age lead through loss spermatogenic rather than disturbance blood–testis barrier.
